According to HubSpot.com, 76% of web users feel that the most important part of a company’s website design should be easy to find content. More interestingly, the same survey reported that only 10% of customers said they care about a websites overall appearance.
This is intrinsically true. Take any of the successful online companies and compare their aesthetic beauty – Amazon, Ebay, Kijiji – all of these sites aren’t beautiful works of art, they have simply been design to be easy to navigate.
Now, this is not to say that a rental website can’t be attractive, but this insight should offer a slight shift in the importance placed on design alone. Perhaps 76% of the focus of a redesign should be given to content and navigation, as opposed to a beautiful design.
It’s really something worth thinking about. Sometimes the most productive, user-friendly websites are not the most attractive.
