Padmapper Canada Rent Report

For our first ever Padmapper Canada Rent Report, we analyzed hundreds of thousands of listings to identify the 25 most expensive cities for renters across the country. Rankings are based on the median price of a one bedroom apartment in each city this May. Top 5 Most Expensive Rental Markets 1. Vancouver, BC topped our study as the most expensive city for renters in Canada, maintaining a strong margin over second place, Toronto. The median one bedroom rent this May was $1,700, while the median two bedroom was $2,780. Prices did however see a softening in the past month, dropping 2.3% and 0.7% for one and two bedroom units, respectively. 2. Toronto, ON commanded prices of $1,320 for a one bedroom and $1,650 for a two bedroom. Rent trends were mixed over the past month, as one bedrooms increased 1.5%, while two bedrooms dropped 1.2%. 3. Victoria, BC saw rents jump for both unit types this May. The city narrowly beat out Calgary for third place on our list, with a median one…
